WHEN: December 21st - Early January
WHERE: Etraya
WHAT: Newcomers, a surprise gift from Tatianna, and a visitor!
NOTES\WARNINGS:
![]() ⏵ arrival ⏴ Welcome to Etraya! Arrival goes as expected - characters awaken on hospital beds and are offered an explanation of their situation: that they have arrived in the city of Etraya, and they are their world's only hope. They are welcome to wander the hospital if they would like to - the upper floors are mostly empty, full of pristine hallways and numerous rooms filled with supplies, cots, and things one would expect from a relatively average 21st-century hospital. The lobby is filled to the brim with tables of freshly baked goods. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" banners are taped to the walls, and several other typical birthday decorations can be found in this area. A few of the baked goods tables are lined with massive cakes covered in unlit candles, just waiting for someone to grab a lighter and sing off-key. Is it anyone's birthday? Who knows! The companion bots seem to believe it's every new arrival's birthday and will greet them as such - with friendly waves and cheers as they make their way to the lobby. A coat rack is situated by the doors leading out of the hospital, covered in warm clothing that fits the new arrivals just right - whether it's to their preferred style or not is something else entirely. Some of them appear normal enough. Others? Well. They can't all be perfect, now can they? Outside the windows, the grass is covered in a couple of inches of loosely packed snow. We hope you enjoy your stay. ![]() ⏵ an unexpected gift ⏴ Out by the hospital stands a tall, decorated tree covered in candles and golden pinecones with a handsome, red velveteen tree skirt. In front of it are a few oversized wrapped gifts for show- and atop one of those sits a familiar woman. Or unfamiliar, if this is your first time. It's Tatianna in a slutty Santa outfit with a big ol’ burlap sack. “Hey, I got something for you,” she says, digging into the bag and rummaging for a moment. She produces a painted egg and holds it aloft. “It’s your Winter Solstice Egg! This is the egg holiday, right? Wait, shit. I’m mixing them up, aren’t I? ...Well. It’s a little late to change it. Here you go!” How one treats their egg is fully up to themselves. They can choose to ignore it entirely, or destroy it and leave the yolk and innards to rot on the ground. They can hand it over to someone else or care for it as if it were something precious. No one will prevent them from doing whatever they please with it! ![]() ⏵ naughty or nice ⏴ Those who keep the egg and tend to it will get the benefit of being able to watch it hatch seven days after they are handed the egg. Eggs that are treated with attention and love may yield a loyal companion, or a weapon of choice that always returns to its owner, while neglected eggs may yield a curious, cursed trinket or an animal who treats its new owner very much the same way its owner had treated it before it was born. Please submit an egg request below for what items you would like your character's eggs to hatch into! Please note that these cannot be things that would be applicable in the game. Those whose eggs are destroyed or forgotten will simply get the gift of... nothing! ![]() ⏵ free your spirit ⏴ With the winter chill gripping the air, a mysterious figure makes their presence known in Etraya - a towering, horned creature dragging a massive sack behind them. Regardless of a character's strengths or weaknesses, they will find that when Krampus raises his massive sack over their head, they are powerless to stop him from catching them. Those capable of great magical feats or other supernatural abilities will sense something... otherworldly about Krampus, but will not be able to place the source of that sensation. Once within Krampus' sack, they are welcome to fight, but escape is impossible. It will feel as if Krampus is dragging them over every rock possible, dragging the sack in through the rivers to the point it soaks through and drenches them - potentially almost drowning them. When the sack opens, they will find themselves in an impossibly dark space. Around them are others who have also been captured and dragged here by Krampus, trapped in small cages hanging from a massive, wiry tree. Krampus will return often, banging clawed hands and birch rods on the walls of the cages and knocking them into one another. The whisper resonates through the darkened area, regardless of Krampus' presence. Confess your secrets, and be freed. Otherwise? You'd better hope someone figures out where Krampus has set up base; those who refuse to confess may find themselves stuck here forever. Krampus' base is under Etraya! Deep within the catacombs, he has set up multiple cages to capture those who inhabit Etraya to punish them for their naughty habits. Fighting him is possible! Defeating him by means of combat is not, however, possible. Think of it like fighting a god: Krampus creates the rules in the space around him, including who can use what ability. Taking a few steps closer to the rat, she gets down on her knees and lowers herself so that she's at eye level with the rodent. With a faint smile, she offers a few squeaks in greeting. The rat keeps its distance but squeaks in return. Flicking its tail and ears, it tilts its head up in a way that almost looks dignified.
Kimie pinches her chin before sitting up and digging one of the baked goods out of her pockets. Rolling it over to the rat, she continues to squeak and the rodent takes a bite before squeaking for a long time. A shared nod before the rat takes the muffin and runs.
Sitting up, she twists around to look at Kirk. "He said he also appeared here without knowing how. Isn't that crazy?"
no subject
“Someone’s going through a lot of trouble to do even that,” Kirk says. “Perhaps even the plants were transported.”
no subject
"I thought they might know something we don't, but he's also been confused." Glancing where the rat ran off, her expression drops a little. "At least, they have a whole community so they don't feel so alone and afraid, but I imagine... most of the animals probably feel a little off if they're the same as he is."

"A dead area? What do you mean?"

She crosses her arms as she tries to think of what could actually be native. Pressing her index finger against the middle of her forehead, she tries to think more on this point. If nothing here is native, what does that mean? She can't fathom what meaning that could be, but it doesn't sound good. However, why isn't it good? She isn't sure.
"I dunno."

“Until we have more answers about this place, I would be careful about trusting Aurora’s word,” he says. “There could be more than what we’ve been told.”

Twisting her hands together, she figures this is as good as they're going to be. However, she looks at him - this is a new revelation and yet he's still so calm. Her heels lift and lightly tap on the ground, anxiously.
"Anyway, um, you'll be okay, won't you, Kirk?"
no subject
“I’ll be okay,” he says. “I’m somewhat of a detective back home. This is another case to look into. High stress comes with the job.”
Then a beat. Kimie is strange and much more high energy than what he’s used to. But so far she means well and just has her own way of coping. So he continues to speak.
“But you should be careful too. We’re technically prisoners and we don’t really know our wardens so far.”
no subject
If it was the past, she would have said that she's too small fry to be concerned about so Kirk doesn't need to worry either. However, she can't say that about herself. If she keeps saying that, how is she going to become the amazing woman she says she is?
"Right! We gotta be extra careful for each other's sake! I don't want to let my new friend down, after all." She leans in. "That new friend is you!"
no subject
"Might want to keep your ears open if any of your other new friends hear anything interesting," he says.
no subject
Turning around, she turned her back on him so that she could let out a sigh of relief. It was a gamble to call him a friend, but he didn't argue with her. So, that is good, right? Right. Honestly, she worries about him still - a serious guy like that with a serious face might get misunderstood. People like Kirk can have others imprint whatever they want on him - decide whatever they want about what he's feeling or saying.
But she wants to meet him honestly and wants to be his friend.
Turning around, she smiles. "Okay! So if you need me... um! Be sure to call a rodent, and they'll get it to me."

Which sounds rather vague but that's about how good it is going to be with rodents that aren't under her control.
no subject
"That might be useful," Kirk says. He means it too. Hopefullu it doesn't happen but maybe he'll need it in a pinch.
no subject
It's wonderful to hear that Kirk thinks that she's useful. Or well, that the skill that she has is useful. It's about the same? About the same!
"Great." Rocking on her heels, she glances over her shoulder. "Mister Rat also mentioned there are rooms at an apartment." She points down the street to indicate where to go. "Or well, to be exact, it said that a lot of people go there and stay when they first get here."
no subject
no subject
"I didn't ask because they wouldn't know the answer." Poking her fingers together, there is an apology laced in her words. "There's only so much they can understand about human society."
A small pause. "So, they could only tell me people gather at an apartment building."
no subject
"Might as well check," he simply says.

Once more, she takes his hand to lead him to the apartment buildings that the rat directed her toward.

As they walk, he mentally notes their surroundings. He sees the strange mishmash of architecture the buildings have as more signs of Etraya being a multiverse hub. Then he sees the Gotham Clock Tower and the Daily Planet and frowns.
no subject
It seems a little silly to say it aloud. They're on an alien planet where people from alternate dimensions are residing to save their dimension. But it still is very odd. The design of the buildings is familiar, but she can tell that they just don't fit together like they should.
It gives her an eerie feeling.
"You think so, too?"
